Three-day visit to the Sunshine Coast

Wednesday 27th January 2021

Queensland’s unemployment is the worst in the nation and the state government needs to start construction on the Mooloolah River Interchange immediately.

This job-creating infrastructure project is critical to keeping this growing region connected and should have been finished years ago.

After years of delays, Labor promised to release the business case last year.

Where is it?

It’s been half a decade since the LNP called for this to be funded, including a new direct connection to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital precinct.

The project would also provide a new connection for northbound traffic from Nicklin Way and would upgrade the Sunshine Motorway from two to four lanes between the Kawana Way Interchange and the upgraded Mooloolah River Interchange.

The upgrades to these roads would better connect Caloundra, Kawana, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore and reduce congestion.

One of the first acts of the Palaszczuk Government was to axe this project and they have provided no alternate plan.

We need the state government to release the business case, create jobs and start the project now.
