Queensland patients ramped 12 years waiting to get into hospital

Shadow Health Minister
Ros Bates

Today’s bombshell report into Queensland Health is alarming and lays bare the extraordinary failings of the Queensland Government.

The Auditor-General has exposed the critical level that ambulance ramping has now reached in this state.

The Queensland Health Crisis is costing Queenslanders more than we could have imagined.

These are the facts:

  • Queensland paramedics spent 112,000 hours stuck on a ramp waiting to offload their patients last year.
  • That’s the equivalent of 4,600 days.
  • Or more than 12 years.
  • This is a 76% increase on the previous financial year.

The LNP has repeatedly raised grave concerns about the critical state of ambulance ramping across Queensland following half a decade of decline.

Queensland Health is in crisis.

Doctors know it.

Nurses know it.

The unions representing frontline health staff know it.

And Queensland patients know it.

The State Government is not listening and has not acted.

As a nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how stressful it is for our exhausted frontline staff who aren’t getting the support they need.

Our dedicated doctors, nurses and paramedics are heroes holding our hospitals together during the Queensland Health Crisis.

Labor is losing control of Queensland Health, and it is hurting Queenslanders every day.
