Breach of bail

This afternoon the LNP became aware of reports that the Palaszczuk Labor Government plans to introduce Breach of Bail as an offence for young offenders.

The Opposition has not received any correspondence or consultation from the Palaszczuk Government about this policy about-face and has not seen the legislation that is due to be debated in a matter of hours.

Introducing Breach of Bail is a key policy of the LNP.

The decision by the Palaszczuk Labor Government is an admission their decision to water down youth crime laws when they first came to office in 2015 is directly responsible for the Youth Crime epidemic spreading across the state.

Queenslanders now know that the LNP is leading the State from Opposition.

Once again, yesterday, a senior Palaszczuk Government Minister stated the Government did not support breach of bail.

This follows similar statements from the Attorney General, Minister for Police, Minister for Youth Justice, the Deputy Premier and the Premier.

What has changed in 24 hours?

This is clearly a government in chaos, lurching from crisis to crisis, attempting to manage the media cycle.
